Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how WanderDays (the "App") processes information when you use the App.
WanderDays is designed around a local-first approach. By default, your travel data is stored on your device. WanderDays does not operate its own backend service for storing your travel records, does not upload your travel records to its own servers, and does not keep a separate copy of your travel data on its own systems. If you choose to enable optional iCloud sync, your data may be stored and synchronized through Apple's iCloud services under your Apple ID.
1. Overview
WanderDays is built to minimize unnecessary data collection and to keep control of your travel records in your hands.
- No account required: You do not need to create an account or sign in to use the App.
- Local-first by default: Your travel records are stored locally on your device unless you choose to enable optional sync features.
- Optional permissions: Features that depend on location, photos, calendar access, or notifications are optional and depend on your device settings and permissions.
- No independent travel-data server: WanderDays does not run its own backend for storing your travel history, does not upload your travel records to its own servers, and does not keep your travel data on its own systems.
2. Information Processed by the App
The App may process information that you create, import, or allow the App to access in order to provide its features. Depending on how you use WanderDays, this may include:
- travel records such as countries, dates, visits, stays, trip notes, and related metadata;
- app settings and preferences;
- optional exports and reports that you choose to generate;
- optional information made available through device permissions, such as location, calendar data, or photo metadata, if you grant access.
By default, this information remains on your device. WanderDays does not upload this information to its own servers and does not maintain user travel records in a separate developer-controlled database. If you enable iCloud sync, applicable app data may be stored and synchronized through Apple's iCloud services and will be subject to Apple's terms, privacy practices, and account settings.
3. Optional Permissions and Device Features
WanderDays may request access to certain device features only if you choose to use functionality that depends on them. These permissions are optional.
- Location: May be used to help detect your current country, improve stay detection, or support location-based features.
- Photos: May be used to read photo metadata, including location metadata where available, if you use photo-based import features.
- Calendar: May be used to read calendar events if you choose to use booking or travel-import features.
- Notifications: May be used to send reminders, alerts, or summaries that you enable.
If you do not grant a permission, you can still use the App with manually entered data, except for the specific feature that depends on that permission. You can change or revoke permissions at any time through your device settings.
4. Location Data
If you grant location access, WanderDays may process location information on your device to support features that depend on your location. WanderDays does not operate its own location-tracking server for your travel data, does not upload your location history to its own servers, and does not keep a separate copy of that location data on its own systems.
If you do not grant location permission, you can continue to use WanderDays through manual entry and other non-location-based features.
5. iCloud Sync
If you choose to enable iCloud sync, app data may be stored in iCloud and synchronized across your Apple devices.
iCloud is provided by Apple. When iCloud sync is enabled, Apple may process your data as part of providing iCloud services. WanderDays does not operate a separate cloud storage service for your travel records.
You can choose not to enable iCloud sync and continue using the App with on-device storage only.
6. Analytics, Tracking, and Advertising
WanderDays does not sell your personal data.
WanderDays does not include third-party advertising SDKs.
WanderDays does not use third-party analytics or cross-app tracking technologies unless they are clearly disclosed in a future update to this Privacy Policy and, where required, enabled with your consent.
7. Data Sharing
WanderDays does not share your travel records with third parties and does not store them on its own servers, except in the following limited circumstances where processing may occur through services you choose to use or where disclosure is legally required:
- Apple-hosted services you choose to use: If you enable iCloud sync or use features that rely on Apple's services, Apple may process relevant data as part of providing those services.
- Exports or shares you initiate: If you choose to export or share a PDF report or other file, the destination, recipient, and further handling of that file are controlled by you and the services you choose to use.
- Legal obligations: If disclosure is required to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request.
8. Your Controls and Choices
You can control how WanderDays processes your data in several ways:
- You can edit or delete records within the App.
- You can choose whether or not to enable iCloud sync.
- You can grant, deny, or revoke permissions such as location, photos, calendar access, and notifications through your device settings.
- You can choose whether or not to export or share app-generated files.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
Because WanderDays stores data locally by default, retention is generally controlled by you.
- If you delete records in the App, they are removed from the app data available on that device, subject to normal device and sync behavior.
- If you delete the App from your device, locally stored app data on that device is generally removed.
- If you use iCloud sync, some data may remain in iCloud until it is also removed through the App and/or Apple's synchronization processes.
Retention and deletion behavior for iCloud-synced data may depend in part on Apple's systems and your iCloud settings.
10. Security
WanderDays uses a local-first design intended to reduce unnecessary exposure of your data. Where applicable, the App also relies on security protections provided by Apple's platforms and services.
However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
11. Children's Privacy
WanderDays is not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age required in the relevant jurisdiction, without appropriate parental or guardian consent.
WanderDays does not knowingly collect personal information from children through its own backend service because it does not operate one for travel records. If you believe a child has provided personal information in a way that raises a concern, please contact support.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time.
If material changes are made, the effective date above will be updated and additional notice may be provided where appropriate.
